At times, I find my thoughts drifting away into a space I don't want to own. Multiple thoughts both good and bad swirl around my mind. At times, I feel like I am losing myself behind my very own thoughts. At times, I feel, like I don't want to feel anymore.

Have you ever found yourself a prisoner of your own thoughts? Have you ever found yourself wanting to think better thoughts but can't rid yourself of the negative thoughts that seem to control every emotion of your being?

With so many things to be thankful for, I want to be thankful for the thoughts of my mind whether good or bad. For every negative thought, I tell myself to think 5 positive thoughts. I know that positive affirmations are essential in creating a positive life. What we think and meditate can change the trajectory of our lives. The Bible says, "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."

I started speaking affirmations several years ago. It wasn't until I met with a life coach that I was told that there is more to affirmations than speaking or thinking affirmations. You have to believe and associate positive memories or feelings with the affirmations. You have to feel what you are saying. It is all about how you feel and what you do with your feelings. For example, when saying I am happy, it helps to think of things that make you happy that you have experienced. Visualization is essential.

You have to be grateful for what you have now before you can be blessed with more things to be grateful for in your life. If you cannot be grateful for what you already have, you won't be grateful for more blessings because you won't be given any.

I have been keeping gratitude journals for almost five years now. What I realized about writing what I am thankful for every day is that my mindset shifted from constant thoughts of negativity to more frequent thoughts of gratefulness. I am not going to say that I don' t have negative thoughts, but I will say that my positive thoughts are greater and more consistent than before.

I have struggled with being consistent in the past, but now I am focused on allowing my thoughts to be even more positive. Even my affirmations have changed in the course of a year. The following are the affirmations I started with: I am happy. I am healthy. I am wealthy. I am blessed. I am positive. I am grateful. I am beautiful. I am courageous. I am motivated. I am successful.

I have now advanced to speaking and meditating on God's word. I now speak the following: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. I am more than a conqueror. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. With God all things are possible. My gift makes room for me and brings me before great men. The Lord is my light and my salvation. The Lord is the strength of my life. I ask and it shall be given to me. I seek and I shall find. I knock and the door will be open to me and more.

Napolean Hill said, "Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, the mind of man can achieve." My thoughts and mind have me conceiving and believing wonderful things and I am achieving great things.

I am proud to say that my good thoughts are winning against my bad thoughts. Yes, bad thoughts tend to creep in my mind because the enemy is relentless and doesn't want the great things that God has promised me to come to pass in my life. However, my good thoughts are powerful because God is amazingly powerful. I meditate on God's word throughout my day consistently because I am more than a conqueror.
