She walked miles on egg shells

As a way of keeping the peace in her life

Tippy toeing around broken glass

Just to keep things all right Tight, she walked a tight rope Slowly pacing and inching by

Not to cut her heels on the glass covered pathway

Afraid to free fall out of her sky Mind filled with thoughts of what could happen next Heart racing, beating out of her chest Chasing an American dream To live happily ever after Seems more like a fairy tale If you ask me

Than an actual thing She kept herself filled with laughter Reaching another chapter Instead of fighting, she'd rather grow Instead of losing, she'd rather show

And prove that good things

Comes to those who wait Come to find out her lover was the one Walking on egg shells & broken glass But for a totally different reason For he was misleading, deceiving and creeping Tippy toeing became his specialty Like a ninja blending in the darkness of the shadows Keeping others in their loop And her locked up in his box Trusting her, he said He'd never be able to do And why would you want to be

With someone who doesn't trust you Hit dog will holler syndrome She always sensed he was infected

Whenever his mistress's name was mentioned

Her own time he neglected Blaming her when he was the one who was playing her so bad A child of God he called himself all the time Yet where was his Godlike qualities When he was crossing the line Got her over there walking on egg shells & broken glass Just to keep their peace Just so he could go get him another piece Behind her back Come back to her face And make her feel inferior to whom he felt was superior For it is evident and so clear he never loved her For what he did for how long he did it She wouldn't wish on her worst enemy

Took everything in her not to pick up the pieces

Of egg shells and broken glass

Thrust them in their faces

Instead she put up her hands

Dropped to her knees

Thanked Him for His good graces

Began praying for God to grant her a way

To be free of the nightmare

For you reap what you sow

Positive seeds within her now grow

Blossoming out into her brave new world

Speaking and encouraging other women

Through the words of her testimony

To break free as an egg from its shell

Piece back the shattered glass of their lives

To live in victory and to live life well
