Don't allow anyone or anything to stop you from shinning.
You may take away my nails, my earrings and you may even take away my hair color. But you will never take away my shine. For I am a STAR and I am going to forever shine!
Discrimination is discrimination no matter how you try to mask it. People try to cover up their discrimination generalizing what people can and cannot do. SO you don't want to single out one individual because he is gay and flamboyant and chooses to express himself by wearing colorful or dark nails, bright colored hair and tight fitting clothes. You couldn't legally stop yourself from hiring him due to "equal employment opportunity rights" but once he shows up for work and is comfortable in his own skin, here comes the cannot list. An employee cannot wear dark or colorful nail polish. An employee cannot wear hair color that isn't their natural color. An employee cannot wear earrings any bigger than the size of a quarter. What is going to be next? Next are you going to stop US from wearing braids? Weaves? Basically, hair that isn't naturally ours? Yes yes, I can see that being the next item placed on the cannot list. An employee cannot wear braids and weaves. All hair must be natural. LOL what a terrible joke. What happened to freedom of expression? What happened to be yourself? I guess that went away like the employees that quick from left to right in this environment. I cannot understand how your primary concern is what color someone's nails and hair are when you don't have enough people to successfully staff the kitchen and properly service the patients.
How is it that you can come up to me as a manager and ask me about my "burgundy" hair color and say we need to do something about it. About what? Burgundy is a natural color is what I said. Is it my natural color, of course not. But, it is a natural color when you go in the regards that it is a color that women have been wearing for decades. Asking me didn't I hear about the "new" policy about hair color? Nope, I sure didn't hear about it. Didn't read about it either. So you can come up to me in my office filled with three other people and confront me with a condescending laugh saying we gotta do something about it and two weeks and once I combat what you saying now you want to say we can schedule to meet in your office. LOL you didn't schedule to meet in mine when you came up in there and blasted me about the color of my hair. And I can bet you one thing is true, her dirty blonde hair isn't her natural hair color either.
I looked up the work policy and didn't find anything about hair color. So now I have to inquire about where in fact is it stated about this new thing.
I just dislike being targeted and discriminated against. Since I was questioned about my hair, I have seen several other women with colored hair. My thoughts are simply have they been notified of this policy as well.
People should really worry about the more important things in life and mind their own business. What does hair color have to do with the performance of my work.? My work has no errors. It is sad that people can't find anything wrong with your work so they want to find other ways to bring you down.
My advice to others is this. Don't let other people who are clearly miserable with themselves to continue to bring you dissatisfaction in the work place. We don't go to work to be stressed out. We go to work to make a difference in the lives of others as well as make a pay check. We have to be bigger than those who are out to make us miserable. Misery does love company but we don't have to reside and befriend or be harassed by misery. I am better off being alone and doing my work without all the distractions. Don't take it among yourself to find ways to get me riled up simply because you cannot find fault in my work and my ethics. Yes, you have tried and failed and you will continue to keep trying. Don't ever forget that I am a star, and I am going to forever shine bright!
