PLAYING CHURCH

People say the funniest things to other adult people. "She isn't playing church" suggest that someone else is "playing church". What does it mean to play church? My definition of playing church would have to be playing with God. Now why would a person who believes in God, play with Him in that fashion? I had to laugh in my head when I heard someone say that "she isn't playing church". So what, do you feel like I am playing church? Am I just going to church to do what? Sit there and look stupid for the sake of showing up. No ma'am.

Today I write this passage to clarify a few things. You see people tend to think that everyone worships the same and in the same fashion. One person may shout "Yes God" all throughout the service while others quietly shed tears. Does that make either one better than the other? Let me answer that for you, it does not. How I worship God and how the next person worships God does not have to be the same. You going to church more than I do doesn't make me any less saved than you. You screaming out "yes God" doesn't make you any more saved than me.

You see, what people fail to realize is that every one is different. No two people are the same. No two people are going to do exactly the very same things all the time unless they are doing it on purpose together. How I dress for church and how another dresses for church isn't going to change how God views me. When I go to church my focus is on the word and the Lord and that is what we have come to church to do. Some people catch the Holy Ghost and perform in various ways. How one performs and acts does not make anyone more or less saved than the next, for we are all different.

God is all around us. God knows what we do in and out of the church. Where I worship does not matter as long as I am worshiping and praising His name. I wake up and give thanks and honor to God each and every day. When I lay down to sleep, I give Him his praises before I fall into my coma as well. Before I started going to church "faithfully" I was attending church every other Sunday from the comfort of my office via internet service. You see as I stated, you don't have to go to chu

rch to give God His praises. Now, I actually am not a member of anyone's church but I do attend service more Sundays than I can count for the past several months. I believe that in a 7 month span, I have only missed 3 or 4(a month) of Sundays. So, I say all this to simply say that I have made a great change for myself. I wont lie and say that I started going to church more for myself, however I will say that I have ended up consistently going to church for myself. With this change I have seen and experienced some major changes within myself. I have learned to tolerate and put up with a lot more things with patience. In one instance, I have allowed my feelings to be placed on the back burner to attend one church more than the other. I found that there are certain obstacles and challenges that we may all face, but when you focus on God instead of those obstacles and challenges, you will walk away a better person.

I write all this to say, that I am not playing church. Whether the comment was directed towards me or not. I am not playing church. God knows my heart. God wakes me up each and every morning with great opportunities to come of my day. I thank God for His glory each and every day, all day every day whether it is in front of my TV, inside my car, at work or in church. No one should ever be considered, playing church because that would never be the right thing to do.
