A quarter past 5
Alarm begins to chime
My mouth let's out a slight sigh
All night long body tossed like a salad
Thanking God before my feet hit the ground
It's that time again
For me to clock in
Hygiene set, dressed
Prepped and ready to go
Praying for traveling mercies
As ignition starts, getting on the road
I am needed
I am wanted
I am essential
Your grace
Your mercy
Your favor
Is needed
Is wanted
Is essential
I thank you God
For allowing me
To be covered
I am covered
With a hedge of protection
Fear has been fired
Faith is a fulltime hired position
Walked the long corridors
Temperature checked
Questions answered
Passed, I can pass
I am here to do everything work related
Is seeing a dead body part of my job description?
For I pass by the morgue's entrance quit a few times daily
At times there's a corpse waiting to be let in
Or a gentleman waiting to pick up the body
So you know another one has gained his wings
May he rest in peace
Mentally exhausting
13.5 hours days
Where as soon as you walk in
You are put in harm's way
The best thing for me to do is praise
To be continued...
