I desire a faithful love

As permanent as the sky

Your faithfulness to me

A love like the one God provides

The kind of love that will never love me anymore than He does right now

And certainly never any less, yes

Love me on my great days of being a superhero and saving this world from the evil villains

Love me on my not so good days when I feel trapped beneath the earth's core

Where I just want to hide in the confines of the envelope of weakened darkness

As a sad defeating letter without a return address or destination

A faithful kind of love

A love that is persevering, patient and persistent

Wide enough to include all of my many layers

Long enough to last forever and ever

No matter what

A faithful kind of love

That isn't triggered or conditioned by my responses

That doesn't come with multiple stipulations

A love that is given to me freely

Not costing my peace of mind

For if it ever were to cost my peace

It would be something I cannot afford

A faithful kind of love

A love that doesn't manipulate and frustrate

You into becoming someone that you are not

A love that doesn't measure your greatness by the example of an ex

Or the person they truly desire

A faithful kind of love

The kind that never gives up on you

Always applauding your accomplishments

And encouraging you to be greater

Yet can positively tell you when you are wrong

Because a lie hurts more than the truth

Yeah that kind of faithful love

That faithful love that accepts you

Flaws, stretch marks, belly fat, crooked teeth and all

The kind that loves you in spite of your mistakes

The heartaches and the misconceptions

Appreciating you and your godly changes

Because I am the faithful love

God loves me, I love me

Permitting me to love you

All I ask is that you love me faithfully

The faithful love that I so desire

Can you do that for me?

If not, I'll continue to wait patiently

For the one God has prepared for me
